about us
For the audience, I have five initial different purposes for writing this book.
First, I want to remember Pat Bickle because I believe that Pat (was and is) very important in God’s heart, and it’s not God’s will that Pat be forgotten.
Secondly, I want to accurately remember, in an unvarnished way, as much as possible the prophetic history that has surrounded the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (IHOPKC); that had its conception many years before its initial birth in May of 1999. I want this to be as historically accurate and carefully researched as possible. I am using my own convictions that I have some confidence is from God, and what is written does not reflect an official perspective from Mike Bickle or those of the IHOPKC staff.
Third, many thousands of people have been influenced by the testimony of Pat Bickle’s life and the prophetic swirl that has surrounded him and his older brother Mike over the last forty years. Many currents and people have intertwined to give birth to IHOPKC over the past. My goal is to remember many of them like Tim Golden, Bob Hartley, Gary Krouse, and others as they interacted with Pat, Mike and others within the Kansas City prophetic community that later laid the foundation of IHOPKC. I do a brief section on a group of Believers from the Jesus Movement in the seventies from the Agape ministries.
Forth, I desired to dig into some testimonies and spiritual experiences of people who got it right in hearing God as well as those who missed the mark. The Scriptures shows us different ways in which God speaks to each one of us, individually and collectively in the Church, and to the world. I have endeavored to record and highlight many ways God has spoken today with people I know. But some people could have been exaggerating to me to me about their experiences to make themselves look better in the eyes of other men/women. People are not stagnant creations, and those who were the most on fire and who have gone the deepest in God and have had amazing divine experiences can just as easily fall away and turn towards darkness by giving into temptations or being betrayed by ones they loved and not forgiving them. I site King Soloman from the Old Testament (who wrote three books of the Bible) The core beliefs of people can also change over decades as the world and the devil continually harass them.
Finally, I believe that Kansas City has a unique purpose in God’s heart to bring His revival Presence into the United States that is supposed to spread over the nation and around the world. Currently, I do not know if Kansas City has been passed over. I believe there is a duty for people (especially the leaders) to obey God and make this happen rather than to allow lesser emotions (like anger and revenge or envy) to sabotage the move of God in Kansas City or the nation. Also, we should not pretend that the Lord will do this without some response from us.
I have included portions of about 150 recorded interviews with various people who were first-hand witnesses to events in this prophetic history. I believe they were mostly sincere when sharing with me, but there is a possibility that some were not. Many of these people’s attitudes have changed and shifted over the last five to ten years since I collected most of my testimonies; especially since the alleged allegations have recently come out against Mike Bickle. Some no longer even have faith anymore. But I am going with what people gave me on the tapes, or that are publicly available even though some might contradict me today. I’ve included important information transcribed from CDs, books, newsletters, and videos, along with information gleaned from archived KC Star/Times news articles. Thank you for investing your time and energy in reading this book if you buy. A few others are added.
